Connections 2040 Plan for Greater Philadelphia

Connections logo

The Connections 2040 Plan for Greater Philadelphia is the long-range plan for the future growth and development of the DVRPC region. The Connections 2040 Plan includes land use, environmental, economic competitiveness, and transportation strategies, and puts forth a vision for investing in our transportation system. Due to funding constraints outlined in the Plan, we cannot fully afford the vision, so the Plan also identifies a set of fiscally constrained transportation projects that the region can afford over the life of the Plan.

The Connections 2040 Plan, adopted in July 2013, places a strong emphasis on rebuilding our transportation system and investigates additional transportation funding and cost-saving measures that are needed to maintain the system we have today, as well as make necessary improvements to maintain our quality of life and enhance economic competitiveness. The Plan focuses on creating livable communities, managing growth and protecting the environment, building the economy, and establishing a modern multimodal transportation system.

In July 2014, the transportation investments contained in the Connections 2040 Plan were amended to account for the additional investment opportunities afforded by Pennsylvania Act 89.
