Urban Waterfront Action Group
Urban Waterfront Action GroupThe Urban Waterfront Action Group (UWAG) was created in 1980 through the PA Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Program to provide "one-stop" shopping for information about waterfront development permits in the Delaware Estuary. The UWAG meets monthly, as needed, to provide a pre-permit application service whereby potential waterfront developers and regulatory agencies can meet to identify and hopefully resolve potential permitting issues. The UWAG meeting occurs in advance of detailed project engineering. Agencies that usually participate on the UWAG include the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Southeast Region office and Coastal Zone Management Program, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District Office - both of these agencies have permitting authority over waterfront projects, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, Delaware River Basin Commission, U.S. Coast Guard MSO - Group Philadelphia, and various county and local planning departments. The UWAG is offered on a purely voluntary basis to anyone interested in developing or expanding a waterfront project in the Delaware Estuary. All meetings begin at 10AM in the DVRPC's Philadelphia Room, unless otherwise notified. Coffee is available at 9:30AM. Meeting agendas are emailed to UWAG members 15 days before the meeting. Meeting materials, such as project descriptions and maps, are mailed to UWAG members.
