Discussion Items
1. Reinvestment in Centers and Corridors
Heather Kump, Regional Economic Policy Planner, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), will present the findings of DVRPC's current project entitled Residential Investment in Centers and Corridors. The purpose of this project is to assess existing trends in residential growth and investment and identify obstacles and opportunities for residential reinvestment in the region's cities, boroughs and first generation suburbs. Phase I analyzes data on population growth, building permits and mortgage lending trends and identifies barriers to residential redevelopment in centers. Phase II will include discussions of several case studies which highlight successful examples of residential development in the region's centers.
2. Live/Work Development
Mary Ng, Regional Planner, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, will review the progress on DVRPC's work program project focusing on live/work development. The purpose of the project is to evaluate the potential for promoting live-work developments, which combine distinct but connected residential and commercial spaces, as means of encouraging redevelopment in existing centers, reducing sprawl and traffic congestion, and implementing regional and state plans.
