1. Discussion Item: Potential FY2003 Work Program Projects
Each year DVRPC develops a Work Program of projects and initiatives to be undertaken. We are currently developing project ideas for FY2003, to begin July 1, 2002. John Griffies, DVRPC's Work Program Coordinator, will review the process and time frame for developing the FY2003 Work Program. The RHC will discuss and prioritize projects for recommendation to the DVRPC Board.
Previous DVRPC housing projects have included assessments of homeownership, the rental market, public and assisted housing and homelessness. Additionally, staff has considered the implications of discrepancies between the location of the region's employment centers and affordable housing, and recently updated the municipal housing affordability indices originally developed in 1990. Staff is currently undertaking a project which will assess existing trends in residential development and identify obstacles and opportunities for residential reinvestment in the region's centers (see Item 2 below).
2. Discussion Item: Reinvestment in Centers and Corridors
Heather Kump, regional economic policy planner with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, will review ongoing work on DVRPC's current project entitled Residential Investment in Centers and Corridors. The purpose of this project is to assess existing trends in residential growth and investment and identify obstacles and opportunities for residential reinvestment in the region's cities, boroughs and older suburbs. The project will include an assessment of several examples of successful residential infill and/or adaptive reuse developments in the region's centers. Work on this project commenced on July 1, 2001, and project completion is anticipated by June 30, 2002.
3. Discussion Item: County and agency updates
Members of the Regional Housing Committee are invited to update the committee on ongoing housing activities and initiatives within their individual County or agency.
