1. DISCUSSION ITEM: POTENTIAL WORK PROGRAM PROJECTS
The RHC will discuss and prioritize potential housing-related planning projects which might be considered for inclusion in the Commission's Fiscal Year 2001 Work Program. The DVRPC Board's Work Program Committee has already begun the process of developing the Year 2001 Work Program. Previous DVRPC housing projects have included assessments of homeownership, the rental market, public and assisted housing and homelessness. Additionally, staff has considered the implications of discrepancies between the location of the region's employment centers and affordable housing. This year, staff is updating the municipal housing affordability indices originally developed in 1990.
The Commission also maintains Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data for review by interested parties, and produces summaries of residential building permits. In 1993 and again in 1995, DVRPC prepared growth monitoring reports which provided information on development proposals, new construction and housing values. Several housing-related project ideas have already been identified (see staff memoranda dated October 8, 1999), and RHC members are asked to discuss any additional project ideas with their staff prior to the meeting on October 29th.
