2. Growth Management in New Jersey Issues and Opportunities - Susan Bass Levin, Commissioner, New Jersey Department of Community Affairs
In his January 14, 2003 State of the State address, Governor McGreevey spoke
at length on the need to manage development and promote "Smart Growth"
in New Jersey. On January 16th, the administration unveiled the "Big Map"
which, when finalized, will serve as the basis for resource investment, planning
and new regulations for development in New Jersey. Commissioner Levin will present
the concepts behind this draft map, the process to review and revise it, and
its eventual use by state agencies. Municipal, non-profit and developer representatives
are invited to discuss this new initiative.
