1. Call to order
All Task Force members will be recognized and the April 19, 2006 meeting notes
will be offered for the committee's approval (see meeting highlights). Also,
Barry Seymour, new DVRPC Executive Director, and Don Shanis, new DVRPC Deputy
Executive Director and new Task Force co-chair, will be introduced.
2. Delaware Valley Freight Corridors Study
DVRPC is leading a major study effort to develop a primary north-south freight
corridor and a primary east-west freight corridor in the region. In support
of the corridors initiative, Ted Dahlburg and Walker Allen will discuss the
Freight For A Day education and promotion event scheduled for September 20,
2006.
3. DVRPC Mapping Services
Chris Pollard of the DVRPC Technical Services Division will provide an overview
of DVRPC's mapping services and resources. Plans for a new, interactive online
application for the Delaware Valley's freight network will also be unveiled.
4. DVRPC's 2005 Aerial Photography
Glenn McNichol of DVRPC will provide an overview of the 2005 aerial photos
for the Delaware Valley. These high-resolution aerials, in color for the first
time, are among the most popular products for DVRPC's private and public sector
planning partners.
5. Transportation for IKEA Wholesale, Inc.
Tom DeMarino, International Transport Manager, will discuss transportation
factors and trends for IKEA Wholesale, Inc." North America. The Swedish home
retailer currently has 231 stores in 33 countries (2 in the Delaware Valley)
and about 12,000 items in its catalogues.
6. Two-minute Reports
Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members will provide updates
on the activities of their companies and agencies.
7. Old/New Business
Old or new items of business will be considered. The next scheduled meeting
of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force is October 18, 2006.
