Data Analyst Co-op

Job Description

This position will assist the Information Technology staff with the collection, organization, analysis, presentation, and documentation of electronic data in support of the agency's planning efforts. The presentation and layout of data may be in either desktop or web-based formats. The employee will work in a team-based environment assisting many different DVRPC project managers and data analysts with their day-to-day activities. Close supervision is provided by a supervisor who assigns tasks, gives preliminary instructions, and reviews work in process and upon completion for quality and adherence to established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build databases, design forms and reports, and deliver products for staff projects.
  • Develop queries and reports to answer data analysis needs of planners.
  • Create web-based, database-driven applications in ASP or ASP.NET.
  • Update and maintain existing database applications.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of database concepts, data manipulation and advanced SQL query scripting.
  • Fluency in various program languages: ASP, ASP.NET, HTML, SQL, XML, Java, C++, VB.
  • Experience creating Access Database Applications and developing modules with VBA.
  • Ability to design and execute complex queries, using PL/SQL, in Oracle.
  • Strong problem solving skills – ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to listen to staff needs and translate into creative solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Availability

This position requires a minimum commitment of 22.5 hours per week, and a maximum of 37.5 hours.

Salary

Paid position at hourly rates commensurate with education and experience.
