[0.2 MB .pdf]

Overview

Caln Township was awarded a $32,000 EGGS grant to conduct an analysis of existing and projected land use as well as current and projected traffic and transportation needs, and to develop an action plan to manage transportation growth, improve mobility and enhance community character in the township. The study will investigate potential connections between the Thorndale Business District and Route 30, and the SEPTA regional rail station.

Objectives

The objectives of the study are to:

  • Link current and projected land use to transportation improvements;
  • identify and document the needs for specific transportation improvements;
  • improve mobility patterns via walking, biking, transit, and traffic;
  • manage transportation growth to enhance community character; and
  • maximize existing transportation system capacity to reduce demand on the regional network, improve connectivity, and control congestion within the project area.

Status

Caln Township selected Simone Collins Landscape Architects to conduct the one-year study. Representatives of Simone Collins presented the draft mobility plan at the Caln Township Supervisors meeting on June 10, 2010. The study was completed in July 2010 and the Board of Supervisors adopted the study by resolution in December 2010.
